Medicine to live longer and better

In the early 1960s, Dr. Hayflick conducted experiments on healthy lung tissue and found that it appeared to die after its cells had divided about 50 times, and that as they approached this limit, they showed progressive signs of cellular aging. Today we know that this is caused by the shortening of telomeres after each cell division and that the limit of cell division places the maximum life expectancy in optimal conditions at around 120-130 years.

In addition to the increase in life expectancy, the level of health with which this life expectancy is achieved (known as healthy life expectancy) is particularly relevant. In this regard, some studies indicate that of every 30 years of increased lifespan achieved, only 3 are in full health, and that the remaining 27 years can be lived by tolerating pathologies related to aging. In this context, Healthy Aging Medicine (Age Management Medicine) aims not only to live longer but also to live better. To “optimize” healthy life expectancy, after a correct diagnosis, there are five areas of intervention on the body: healthy eating, appropriate exercise, adequate sleep, nutritional supplements, and necessary pharmacological therapies.

Unlike traditional medicine, which focuses on combating diseases as they arise, at Longevytum we specialize in Healthy Aging Medicine, which emphasizes preventative and proactive health and uses protocols based on scientific evidence. Our goal is to identify and meet criteria that reduce the risk of certain diseases—specifically, heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and Alzheimer’s disease—to enable people to live longer and with a higher quality of life.

At Longevytum, we rely on the science of Healthy Aging Medicine to identify and meet the criteria that will put you at the lowest possible risk of disease, particularly heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and Alzheimer’s disease, and therefore allow you to live longer and with greater quality of life.

Información y conceptos

Maximum life expectancy

Based on Dr. Hayflick’s studies, the maximum human longevity can be established at around 120-130 years.

Healthy life expectancy

It is defined as the average number of years a person can expect to live in good health (in the absence of functional limitations or disability).

Healthy Aging Medicine

It is a branch of medicine, of a preventive nature, whose objective is to make us live longer and in better conditions.
